Il est en bois, tr\u00e8s long (2 m\u00e8tres), coud\u00e9 et muni d\u2019un syst\u00e8me de cl\u00e9s tr\u00e8s complexe. Il poss\u00e8de une anche double constitu\u00e9e de 2 fines lames de roseau li\u00e9es l\u2019une \u00e0 l\u2019autre.&nbsp;Quand l\u2019instrumentiste les place entre ses l\u00e8vres et souffle, la pression de l\u2019air, gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 leur \u00e9lasticit\u00e9, les met en vibration et tout l\u2019instrument entre en r\u00e9sonance.
